Winterize, Winterize, Winterize!
While the temperatures are still mild its time to think about preparing for winter weather. Now is the time to purchase your winterizing materials such as vent covers, new furnace filters, heat tape, ice melt and insulation. Don’t wait until these items are in short supply.
Here is a handy check list of 10 helpful tips to keep the cold out!
1) Place exterior vent covers in the foundation and attic vents.
2) Check and clean your gutters to help prevent ice dams. 
3) Seal the cracks! Keep the cold out by checking all windows and doors.
4) Have your heating system tuned up and replace your furnace filter.
5) If you have a woodstove, have it cleaned and inspected before use.
6) Test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
7) Disconnect and drain hoses. Turn off exterior shut off valves.
8) Trim trees and shrubs now to prevent ice & snow heavy branches from falling and
damaging your home or property.
9) Keep it cozy by setting your thermostat to 65 degrees and open interior doors and cabinet doors during very low temperatures. This will increase warm air circulation.
10) Prevents Slips! Repair hand rails and sidewalks. Make sure you have adequate exterior lighting and keep ice melt or bird seed on slippery surfaces.
